What is useful Jerusalem artichoke?

Advantages of Jerusalem artichoke

But Jerusalem artichoke has many advantages: it is not afraid of any disease at all, does not suffer from frost or drought, does not attract any pests, and depletes the soil a little. Wintering tubers in the ground makes it possible to have perennial plantations without additional costs for their cultivation. A very cold-resistant plant, endures late autumn frosts down to -8 degrees, vegetates until November. It is the earliest, constant throughout the summer and until the snow is fresh produce from the garden. There is only one drawback – tubers selected from the ground in autumn are poorly stored in the basement, even sanded.

The Russian scientist agronomist P. Preobrazhensky wrote in 1856: Jerusalem artichoke stalks are as useful as its tubers, this is its advantage over potatoes: they can be eaten and fed to animals green and dry.
